Techie Trekkie
I obtained my B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maryland, College Park (class of 2008) and began a career supporting aviation. Five years later, I obtained my M.S in Systems Engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School (class of 2013), while working full-time. I received the Wayne E. Meyer Award for Excellence in Systems Engineering. I am very passionate about Systems Engineering and promoting Women and Minorities in STEM. I also had the opportunity to attend the Annual Women in Color Conference in Detroit, Michigan where I won an award as a Technology Rising Star (see news). The following year, I was featured on a panel where I discussed the importance of mentoring. I’ve worked in aviation and defense at Naval Air Command (NAVAIR), Northrop Grumman, and Lockheed Martin. I support the Artemis Space program first as a Jacobs Engineering contractor and then as a NASA employee. Currently, I’m with the United States Space Force, supporting Safety Engineering for multiple Launch Service Providers.

Here’s this video I did with my professor, Dr. Elisabeth Smela, in Glenn L. Martin Hall, in 2008, while I was a Research Assistant. We are working together to bring Systems Engineering education to the undergraduate level in the Mechanical Engineering Department. We ruffled some feathers…
